Frustrated with the typical "standard" repertoire expected of a hotel
trio, Bob began building a unique repertoire, influenced by such diverse
sources as Tango, Film Noir, Blues, Southwest American, Brazilian and
African music. While finding his own writing voice, the group adapted
works of Sting, Peter Gabriel, Pat Metheny, and the great South
African composer Abdullah Ibrahim, among others. In recent years, the
group has been heard at special events in the Reading Terminal Market and at
Susanna Foo’s restaurant, and in most Philadelphia area museums. The common
thread sought after is the beauty of melody and melodic improvisation within
these different settings of rhythm and mood.
Band members have recently included: Rich Crawford, a guitarist and
producer who has worked closely in the studio with Jon Lucien and Pieces of a
Dream; Marc Adler, an alto flutist who has received PA Council on the
Arts performance and recording grants, and who has written a widely used set of
etudes for solo flute published by Hal Leonard; Robert Campbell, an
acoustic bass player, who has worked with almost every notable jazz musician in
the Delaware Valley, and who has toured with Astrud Gilberto in Japan.
